# Residential proxies

<mark style="color:purple;">Residential proxies</mark> are proxies placed on real home devices, with support for <mark style="color:purple;">UDP</mark> in packages <mark style="color:purple;">Standart\Unlimited</mark> ( You can see the product differences [<mark style="color:purple;">here</mark>](/eng/readme.md)).\
They are ideal for working with many IP addresses from home providers with support for fine targeting, up to selecting a carrier.

## **How do I start using it?**

The cost of residential proxies is calculated based on the number of gigabytes purchased per order.\
\
To get access to country selection and other parameters, you need to [**purchase** ](https://dashboard.proxyshard.com/residential-main)an order. To do this, go to the page ![](/files/40f37fbb6be3c386213eee9fd81b0b101bf64fa0)and specify the number of gigabytes\ <br>

## Description of settings fields

In the order itself, you can find several important items and options; let's take a look at them

<figure><img src="/files/1bc206aa5df67cee2b47cfa70a9d4fe8ea657567" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<mark style="color:purple;">**Traffic used**</mark> - How much spent \ How much purchased

<mark style="color:purple;">**Country**</mark> - Country selection

<mark style="color:purple;">**Region**</mark> - Country region selection

<mark style="color:purple;">**City**</mark> - City selection within the region

<mark style="color:purple;">**ISP**</mark> - Selection of provider type (Temporarily unavailable)

<mark style="color:purple;">**Session**</mark> - Selection of session type, you can choose <mark style="color:purple;">Sticky</mark> and <mark style="color:purple;">Rotate</mark>.

* <mark style="color:purple;">Sticky</mark> allows you to keep one IP address and depends on the selected TTL parameter.
* <mark style="color:purple;">Rotate</mark> changes the IP with every request. The pool of IP ranges for <mark style="color:purple;">Sticky</mark> is smaller than for <mark style="color:purple;">Rotate</mark>

<mark style="color:purple;">**Protocol**</mark> - HTTP/SOCKS.\
These are the main protocols for establishing a connection to the proxy server.

<mark style="color:purple;">**TTL**</mark> - Appears when selecting <mark style="color:purple;">Session - Sticky</mark> and is responsible for the lifetime of the IP address (<mark style="color:purple;">Time to live</mark>). The minimum possible <mark style="color:purple;">TTL</mark> is 60 seconds (1 minute).

<mark style="color:purple;">**Relay**</mark> **-** Is set only in cases where there is no connection

<mark style="color:purple;">**Username\Password\Host\Port**</mark> - Connection data; they are also generated in the proxy list and support conditional formatting.

{% hint style="info" %}
Proxy ports do not affect the final address you receive; it is just the port number for the remote proxy server and nothing more!
{% endhint %}

<mark style="color:purple;">**Traffic Statistics**</mark> - Minute-by-minute statistics of used traffic. There is a 10-20 minute delay in display.

<figure><img src="/files/7fe6f735bd8c1150a3c26534c8903e2252b6cc74" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

At the end of the order, you can find request statistics from your residential traffic; in rare cases, there may be display delays of up to 20 minutes.

## **Setup instructions**

1. Specify the settings - <mark style="color:purple;">Country</mark>, <mark style="color:purple;">Region</mark> and other parameters if necessary

<figure><img src="/files/7fbf633c29b3c91d18851d3894f7c8677404b060" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. Protocol <mark style="color:purple;">HTTP</mark> or <mark style="color:purple;">SOCKS5</mark> is set at your discretion <mark style="color:$info;">(as a rule, SOCKS5 is set for UDP work)</mark>

<figure><img src="/files/6b1390fbec3c13bd229dcfb6ac52a2cfe76ba4e8" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3. Server (<mark style="color:purple;">Relay</mark>) is specified only in case of connection problems

<figure><img src="/files/3a6f9a637f316dcf52338e1242973d667a0402eb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

4. The remaining parameters are set if necessary

5. Press the button <img src="/files/66130b0c49d1fa0472009aa655ffb9543632d6e2" alt="" data-size="line"> and copy the proxy from <mark style="color:purple;">Proxy List</mark>

<figure><img src="/files/2eb2974f5322fe3d431da8e24385997409eee0cf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In the future, if you need another country, you need to specify new settings and click <img src="/files/2299f10e9afbed5e32b8b2a5c4b0ebcdb466c8f8" alt="" data-size="line"> and re-install the new proxies in the application from which the connection is made.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can learn additional information about connection formatting at [link](/eng/our-products/residential-proxies/how-to-use-residential-proxies.md)
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Proxies in the "Proxy List" are not saved, as this is a dynamic field. You can generate many proxies for different locations — the old ones will not stop working when new proxies are generated.
{% endhint %}

## Differences between Premium\Standard\Unlimited packages

### <mark style="color:purple;">Standard Residential</mark>

Proxies are a pool of devices that have passed less strict address selection filters, with an average number of devices and available countries.\
This plan is most often chosen for tasks related to process automation, where support is also required <mark style="color:purple;">UDP</mark>

<figure><img src="/files/cfe316fb3fed35b1273d1384f378aed968379d86" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### <mark style="color:purple;">Unlimited Residential</mark>

Proxies are a pool based on the "Standard" plan. It has the same countries and devices, but has no limits on the amount of traffic used. Rental is available for "Day", "Half Month", and "Month". There is a connection limit: no more than 5000 connections of any type (ESTAB\FIN\_WAIT and others) are allowed; also, with a monthly subscription, it is possible to increase the number of connections; we can provide more details in Support.\
\
This plan is most often chosen for tasks related to automation processes with high traffic consumption, where support is also required <mark style="color:purple;">UDP</mark>

### <mark style="color:purple;">Premium Residential</mark>

The premium pool consists of some of the best IPs for different purposes and tasks; the main advantage of the traffic is:

1. Flexible targeting selection, up to carrier level
2. A larger list of available countries, regions, and cities
3. A larger number of IP addresses

The downside of this plan is the lack of UDP and an Unlimited plan.

## Pros and cons of residential proxies

#### <mark style="color:green;">Pros:</mark>

* **Bypassing restrictions of exchanges and services**

Many crypto exchanges and DeFi platforms impose regional restrictions (for example, Binance restricts access for users from certain countries). With residential proxies, you can easily change your geolocation by connecting from the IP addresses of real users. This helps you work with platforms without the risk of being blocked.<br>

* **Enhanced anonymity and protection against tracking**

The crypto industry is tightly regulated, and platforms often track user activity. Residential proxies mask the real IP, preventing transaction tracking and creating the appearance of activity from different devices and locations.<br>

* **Bot trading and automation**

Trading and arbitrage strategies require multiple accounts and automated interaction with exchanges. Residential proxies allow bots to work without restrictions when choosing countries and protect against IP bans, since they are not filtered by most fraud systems on the market.<br>

* **Multi-accounting and anti-detect browsers**

Exchanges often use multiple accounts. Residential proxies + anti-detect browsers (for example, Vision, Octo) allow each account to look unique, reducing the risk of bans.<br>

* **Access to ICO, IDO and Airdrop**

Many projects distribute tokens only to users from certain regions. Using proxies, you can change your location and participate in drops even if access is initially restricted.<br>

* **Increased security in P2P transactions**

When exchanging crypto on P2P platforms (such as Binance P2P or LocalBitcoins), residential proxies protect against scammers by hiding the real IP and preventing tracking attempts.

#### <mark style="color:red;">Cons:</mark>

* **High cost**

Residential proxies are more expensive than datacenter equivalents. This is because they use the IP addresses of real users rather than server resources.

* **Possible speed issues and delays**

Since requests pass through real people's devices, **speed may vary** depending on network load, the proxy's location, and the quality of the end user's internet connection. For tasks requiring high speed (for example, bot trading), this can be critical, and in such situations it is recommended to consider Datacentre or ISP proxies.

* **Limited uptime of a single IP**

IP addresses in residential proxies can **change frequently**, since users may disconnect their devices from the sharing network. Although we do have the option to extend the rental period by specifying TTL, it is not 100% and usually does not exceed 2 days.

These drawbacks are bypassed by [ISP proxies](/eng/our-products/isp-proxies.md)
